Illusions because you see, they really are terrible. Also, I like the word illusion. ILLUSION!

"The object of art is to stir the most divine and remote chords which make music in our soul. Man is hungry for beauty. There is a void. We spend our days looking for the secret of life. Well, the secret of life is in art." -Oscar Wilde
"A poet is someone who is astonished by everything." -Anon.

More quotes: "Draw a crazy picture,
Write a nutty poem,
Sing a mumble-gumble song,
Whistle through your comb.
Do a loony-goony dance
'Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain't been there before."
-Shel Silverstein

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep."
-Robert Frost, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

"'Beauty is truth, truth beauty,' -- that is all
Ye know on Earth, and all ye need to know."
-John Keats, Ode On A Grecian Urn

"Take this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow--
You are not wrong who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream."
-Edgar Allan Poe, A Dream Within A Dream

"You see things as they are and ask, 'Why?' I dream things as they never were and ask, 'Why not?'" -George Bernard Shaw

"If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain." -Emily Dickinson

"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you mad." -Aldous Huxley

"Some authors should be paid by the quantity NOT written." -Anon.

Illusions of Poetry

Oh yes Kate dear I wrote it all by my lonesome, if I were a Catholic I would have just had to memorize some crap and gotten off scott free! It took me quite some time to get it just the way I wanted, I am rather pleased with it. *blush*

Here it is folks, my statement of faith!

I believe the sun will rise in the east each morning and set in the west each night. That every night as I lay my head down to sleep I'm wrapped in the most powerful love of all. This same love is wrapped around me all-day and wrapped around all of God's children--no matter who they are.

I believe that Jesus Christ was born, and lived among us, and died for all of our sins. Because of his gift to humanity when we die we join in and with God, becoming members of the church eternal. There is no real end, only something more beautiful waiting for us around the next bend, and we can't even begin to imagine it.

I believe a benevolent ear listens while I pray. That through the Trinity I have been given amazing promises and the ultimate good news. I have been gifted with the sweetest simplest things of all, the essential things, faith, hope, and love.

Okay here goes.

This was co-written by my English group, bolded are the lines I came up with.

From the Yellow Spectacles

All footeps echo dark (and gray).
And drop dead embers by the way,
The air is thick with dead forgotten dreams,
Sun filters through in broken beams,

Roads and people shrink away,
Covered in ash, their lives decay,

The glow of lampposts light the street,
Showing where the footsteps meet,

And down the winding street to the right,
God peers from yellow spectacles into the night,
His children are hidden from him by the fog,
They turn and walk deeper towards the smog,

And next to the gray town runs a train,
Filled with those who sought to gain,
It slowly rattles along the track,
Bringing the escaped prisoners back.

Spring will Spring 3-7-03

March jumps up,
Surprise,
Spring is just around the corner.

Six AM 3-9-03

Six AM is far too early,
My day refuses to begin,
It mutters and it mummbles,
Pulling the covers over its head,
And my day simply refuses to remove itself from bed.

Telelphone Therapy 3-6-02

Calling just to you know,
Are you okay?
Homework, grades, boys,
Stress is running high,
Time is running low,
But we'll make it,
So I'll talk to you tomorrow,
Good luck, sweet dreams.

There's a bit more recent stuff somewhere...if I only knew where....
